August Wilson's Ma Rainey's Black Bottom

It’s 1927 in a studio in Chicago where the legendary “Mother of the Blues,” Ma Rainey, is recording new sides of old favorites. More goes down in the session than music in this riveting portrayal of rage, systematic racism, and exploitation in the Jazz Age.
